At the point of source noise with these HDD machines noise has been recorded above 100dB. Due to way the rigs are used it is often possible to erect a temporary noise screen around the HDD machine, which can be constructed from either SOUNDEX® curtains or quilts. To correctly determine what barrier to use would depend on the restrictions set out by the local council and the proximity to public buildings, footpaths, housing etc.
